Chair
Steven Strickland

Steven Strickland is the Executive Director for the Eastern U.S. at ExteNet, the largest privately-held owner and operator of communications infrastructure in North America.  From New England to Texas, his team works closely with mobile operators, REITs, sports venues, manufacturers, hoteliers and government agencies.  He joined ExteNet from GTS, a Georgia-based Veteran-Owned Small Business (VOSB) and systems integrator, where he was the company’s Head of Business Development.
Previously, Steven gained valuable “tech startup” experience as Vice President of Marketing at Essentia, a managed services provider based in Charlotte, and Sales Manager at NICE (acquired Fizzback), an analytics software company based in Israel.  During his time at NICE, Steven worked extensively developing the Latin American territory.  He also worked at NCR Corporation for 2 years, managing a global product line.
Steven began his professional career at AT&T, spending 11 years in management-level roles across corporate development, global enterprise solutions, business field services, project management, outside plant engineering, construction and network operations.  In his final role at AT&T, Steven led a team responsible for $42M in annual revenues, and over $100M in ongoing enterprise and government outsourced programs.  At AT&T, he had the opportunity to lead complex engagements with numerous local, state and federal government agencies.
Steven holds an undergraduate in business from Oglethorpe University, Master of Science from Georgia Institute of Technology and law degree from The University of Georgia (UGA).  He is certified as a Project Management Professional (PMP), Registered Telecommunications Project Manager (RTPM) and hold numerous telecom OEM certifications.
Finally, Steven is actively involved in community and civic activities.  He is an appointed Planning Commissioner in Oconee County.  He sits on the Technology Association of Georgia’s (“TAG”) Government Relations Task Force and Wireless Infrastructure Association’s (“WIA”) Workforce Development Committee.  Steven is also a regular participant on expert industry panels. His work with the aforementioned organizations includes advisement on policy matters impacting innovation, technology, workforce readiness, mobile network densification and broadband accessibility.  Steven is the former Athens Council President of the AT&T Pioneers, where he coordinated community volunteerism for 90 members between 2008-2010.  Steven is a former candidate for State Representative and is the current Chairman of the Oconee County Republican Party.
Steven and his wife Stephanie have 4 children (Jared, Slade, Brody and Allie).  They attend Briarwood Baptist Church in Watkinsville.
